Environmental Issues
City of Kuala Lumpur will become overpopulated in near future as there is continuous flux of migrants moving to the city. As the result more lands and natural resources are being exploited to cope with the needs of increasing numbers of people. This is going to precipitate environmental issues such as excessive waste, famine, air pollution and climate change.
We believe human behaviour is the main cause of all the environmental issues we are having now. Our behaviour could exacerbate the environmental problems or on contrary we could save the environment from further deterioration
Space & Human Behaviour
We find that scale of space has significant impact to the human behaviour. Smaller the space we are in it, stronger the sense of belonging we had. For example our sense of belonging is scaling from strong for personal desk to low when we are in the public street. When the sense of belonging is greater, we incline to make the best out of the space and concern of the environment we live within. Therefore a small personal space is an essential tool to create a sustainable environment collectively.
New Sustainability Solutions – Reshape Our Behaviour
We therefore reconfigure the city planning of Kuala Lumpur with top-down approach by subdividing the city into multiple small enclaves. And people living in a smaller enclave will regain their sense of belonging, hence they will make good to the environment where they have strong connection with. Each person will contribute bit of sustainable activities within a designated small space in the public enclave. Each individual’s contribution will make a greater impact by turning our city into a sustainable environment.
